How can long COVID be detected in children and adolescents, and what symptom-relieving treatments are available? In this webinar, Danilo Buonsenso, pediatrician and one of the world’s leading experts on post-infectious conditions in children, will share his knowledge and clinical experience.

Date: March 5, 2026
Time: 12:00–13:30
Location: Online webinar via Zoom (free of charge)

Many children and adolescents who contracted COVID-19 early in the pandemic and never fully recovered have now been ill for several years. Even today, children can develop long COVID after a COVID infection. In addition to severe and limiting symptoms, affected individuals often report difficulties accessing appropriate care and support. Knowledge about long COVID and the ability to diagnose these patients is crucial to provide symptom-relieving treatments and appropriate adjustments at school and in daily life.

We now know that long COVID can affect the entire body, impacting blood vessels, the heart, the immune system, the nervous system, and the brain. Common symptoms include fatigue, cognitive difficulties, elevated heart rate, and worsening of symptoms after exertion (post-exertional malaise, PEM).

In this webinar, Danilo Buonsenso, MD, PhD, MSc, a specialist in pediatric infectious diseases, will present clinical experiences with long COVID in children and adolescents, focusing on diagnosis and early identification. What should be noted in the child’s medical history, and which questions should be asked? What examinations can be performed in your clinic, and how can symptoms be alleviated?
